At Kroma, we believe wellness is a journey enriched by the people we meet along the way. One of those inspiring individuals is Shelly Marshall, founder of Beauty Shamans, a holistic skincare brand dedicated to empowering women through self-care rituals, intuitive beauty, and conscious living. As a wellness leader, mother, and advocate of graceful aging, Shelly blends ancient wisdom with modern practices to nurture both inner and outer beauty.
In this exclusive Kroma Conversation, Shelly shares her daily rituals, mental health strategies, and go-to wellness hacks—from her favorite Kroma products to simple ways she stays grounded and joyful.
Name three non-negotiables in your life.
Working out, face yoga, making sure my family knows I love them every day
What's one way you take care of your mental health every day?
I always have an inspirational book by my bed (right now it's a little book of affirmations). I read a few pages each night and instantly feel more peaceful.
What's your strategy for managing stress in real time?
I remind myself that everything is happening and unfolding for me exactly how it should and exactly at the right time. "Setbacks" are just adjustments to timing that I don't understand yet. I remind myself that I am here on Earth to learn and grow, and I have trained myself to look for the lesson being offered rather than get stressed about it.
Can you share your best no-cost wellness tip?
The more you practice forgiveness, the lighter you'll feel. Living well is the best "revenge".
What's one wellness myth you'd love to debunk for good?
The idea that cardio is the best way to lose weight!
What helps you stay consistent with your healthy habits or routines?
Honestly, my husband is a huge supporter of my health. Every morning during breakfast (that he usually prepares) we talk about what we are going to eat that day and what we are going to do for our bodies to stay healthy.
Do you believe in "cheat days" or is there a better way to look at indulgence?
No, I don't believe in "cheat days" - I live everything in life at 80/20. Things some would consider a "cheat" I consider food for my soul. Like excellent chocolate.
What's your go-to meal when you're short on time but need nourishment?
Kroma's Super Porridge, or cheesy eggs.
Snack you pack when you're on the go or traveling?
Cucumbers, dried fruit, chocolate, jerky
Simple smoothie recipe?
Frozen berries, protein powder, almond butter, spinach, maca & cacao powders
If you think you're getting sick you immediately:
I take a hot bath, drink sooo many cups of Throat Coat tea, foam roll (to get lymph flowing), and eat spoonfuls of raw honey. I also dose up on elderberry, royal jelly and vitamin C. I take a few sniffs of Thyme essential oil every few hours - it breaks up mucus, clears sinuses and is antibacterial/antiviral. I know this has saved me more than a few times.
What's your favorite form of movement (+ why)?
I alternate workouts between heavy resistance training (classic gym exercises) and intuitive movement, which is kind of like yoga but less structured, I just move and stretch and then do a few push ups or squats...I basically just listen to what my body wants to do and I don't stop moving for about 30-45 minutes.
What's something you're never giving up even though it's "unhealthy"?
Chips
How do you incorporate rest and recovery into your week?
I use the sauna at the gym. I also love using my Elipsa LED panel at night before bed while listening to soothing music. Sometimes I even try to nap when my baby does.
What's the last thing you do before you go to bed and first thing in the morning?
The last thing I do before bed is lay with my Elipsa LED panel over my face with soothing music playing for about 20 minutes; the red lights are so relaxing because they dilate blood vessels while boosting collagen. The first thing I do in the morning is kiss my daughter and then brush my teeth (I'm sure she would like it the other way around).

Have any bedtime rituals for ensuring a good night's sleep?
Kroma's Magnesium, silk sleep mask, Gua Sha, Elipsa LED panel, my spa ritual playlist
Most important thing to work on healthwise as we age?
Building & maintaining muscle in the body and face, staying hydrated and eating clean proteins. Gravity is going to get us all, it's protein structures (muscle and collagen) that stave it off.
Instant mood booster?
A quick 5 minute facial massage always lifts my mood and my energy, but a beauty matcha latte is not far behind.
Wellness travel essentials? (1-3 items)
Beauty Matcha Latte (the travel sachets) for those morning flights, electrolytes to hydrate throughout the day, and my Beauty Shamans Energy Wand for instant relaxation.
Do you have a mantra or affirmation that you use regularly?
"I choose love over fear." This helps me stay aligned when challenges come up.
What's one piece of wellness advice you give to others but sometimes struggle to follow yourself?
Don't pick at your face! I have gotten better over the years but I still love toying with a blemish.
Your daily morning ritual?
The first thing I drink every morning is a tall glass of water with Kroma's Supergreens Elixir, I always have a spoonful of Royal Jelly, and then a Matcha. Then my daughter and I read books or do flashcards (she loves them)!
Coffee or matcha? How do you take it?
Definitely Matcha! Just hot water and a splash of raw milk. I stopped drinking coffee over a year ago. Sometimes I'll drink a mushroom or maca latte too.
Favorite wellness hack?
Oil Cleansing is the best wellness hack because you accomplish so many things at once: condition the skin barrier, clean the pores, massage the face, and create built in "me" time.
What brings you the greatest joy?
Living the life I used to dream of.
